If you're wondering where my patriotism comes from, here's part of the source. My maiden name is Colleen DeGrasse. I am a direct descendant of Comte Francois Joseph Paul de Grasse.  As an American, I wanted to show my gratitude by sharing my knowledge of him.  His critical role during the  U.S. War of Independence (1775-83) certainly deserves an important place in our history.

Admiral de Grasse commanded the French naval fleet, who's forces engaged the British Navy in the Battle of Virginia Capes during the Battle of Yorktown. Admiral de Grasse's victory was instrumental in ending the Revolutionary War.
